July 13, 2005

Coral Gables, Fla. (www. hurricanesports.com) – – Former Hurricane wide receiver Michael Irvin will headline the 2005 football marketing campaign entitled “It’s All About The U”.

Irvin made his return to the Orange Bowl on Monday, June 27th for a University photo shoot aimed at capturing the emotion surrounding Irvin and what The U means to him and other former Hurricane players. The campaign will feature Irvin on schedule cards, posters, print advertising, as well as television spots.

A first round pick of the Dallas Cowboys (11th overall) during the 1988 NFL Draft, Irvin compiled a remarkable career at the University of Miami.

In just three seasons as a starter, Irvin set Miami career records for catches (143), receiving yards (2,423) and TD receptions (26). During the 1987 national championship season, Irvin caught TD passes of 26 and 73 yards in the fourth quarter to hand No. 2-ranked Florida State its only loss, and the game-winning TD in the Orange Bowl win over Oklahoma.
