Hurricanes Begin To Wind Down Practice Week

Dec. 21, 2005

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Only one practice remains before the No. 9 Hurricanes football team takes a brief break for the holiday season following a Wednesday afternoon workout at the Greentree Practice Fields. On a cold and blustery day — by South Florida standards — the Hurricanes focused on their third-down packages for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against No. 10 Louisiana State on Dec. 30.

“The guys are into it, and we’ve had some really good work,” head coach Larry Coker said. “I’ve been real encouraged by that.”

A 9:30 a.m. Thursday workout at the Greentree Practice Fields will mark the final practice of 2005 on the UM campus. Players will be dressed in “spiders” for a shorter workout, Coker said.

Coaches and players will break for a few days to enjoy some family time during the holiday season before heading to Atlanta for five days of activities and preparation leading up to the 7:30 p.m. tilt against LSU on ESPN in the Georgia Dome.

Notes: Kelly Jennings appears to have recovered completely from a minor ankle injury earlier this week.
