Three Hurricanes Garner ITA South Region Rankings

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>SKILLMAN, N.J.– Three Miami players and one doubles team were ranked in the South Region when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its Fall Regional Rankings. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Junior Audrey Banada was ranked 10th in the South Region. Banada, who garnered All-American honors in doubles last season, enjoyed a successful fall campaign where she won the ITA South Regional “A” Consolation and earned a 9-3 record.
Sophomore Patricia Starzyk was ranked 14th in the region after posting a 10-3 record. Starzyk reached the quarterfinals of the ITA South Region Championships in October.
Senior Melissa Applebaum rounds out Miami’s ranked singles players at No. 30. Applebaum went 3-1 in fall singles play. She was also ranked 10th in doubles alongside freshman Monika Dancevic. The duo posted a 4-1 record and reached the quarterfinals of the ITA South Regional Championship.
The ITA will release the first national team and individual rankings on January 10th before the Hurricanes open their season on January 13th with the FIU Spring Invitational.
