Dreyer Finishes Second on 1-meter at Ohio State Invite

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>COLUMBUS, Ohio –University of Miami diver Jenna Dreyer finished second on the 1-meter board, highlighting the second day of action at the Ohio State Invitational Saturday evening in the Buckeye’s Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Dreyer turned in an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 291.00 to finish second. Senior Melanie Rinaldi likewise turned in an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 286.30 to finish third. Purdue’s Carrie McCambridge came in first with a score of 317.00.
Junior Heather Bounds finished fifth with a score of 268.85 while freshman diver Tess Waresmith’s score of 262.85 placed her sixth.
In the men’s 3-meter board, junior Derek Starks came in fifth with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 332.95. He finished third in the afternoon’s preliminaries with a score of 350.35. ArizonaState’s Joona Puhakka came in first with a score of 371.80.
12 schools are taking part in the diving competition including Arizona State, Bowling Green, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kenyon, Michigan State, Minnesota, OhioState, PennState and Purdue.
Action will conclude Sunday with preliminaries and finals for both the men’s and women’s 10-meter platform beginning at noon.
