Hurricanes to Compete in Georgia Tech Invitational This Weekend

The University of Miami swimming squad will participate in the second annual Georgia Tech Invitational Friday, Nov. 18 through Sunday, Nov. 20 in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. Preliminary heats will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Finals will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The other schools participating in the meet are Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Tech, New Orleans, Rice University and Western Kentucky.
The Seminoles are the only team entering the meet ranked in the latest top-25 poll. FSU’s women’s team enters the invitational ranked 16th in the country.
The Hurricanes (0-3, 0-2 ACC) have not competed since Nov. 2 when they fell to ACC foes Maryland and Duke in a double-dual meet in College Park.
Miami is led by freshman Christine Zwiegers and junior Ashley Knapp, who are both among the top 10 in the ACC. Zwiegers is seventh in the 100 butterfly (57.75) and 10th in the 50 freestyle (24.04) while Knapp is eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:04.47).
