The Game
The Hurricanes will host in-state ACC rival Florida State Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center. This will mark the 27th meeting all-time between UM and the Seminoles, who lead the series 20-6, and the second meeting this season between the two schools. FSU won the previous game this year, downing Miami 65-56 in Tallahassee January 9th. Thursday’s game will be carried live on WVUM (90.5) and can also be heard on www.hurricanesports.com, which will also feature live scoring and stats. The Hurricanes
Coming off a 62-46 loss to Georgia Tech Jan. 23, Miami takes on Florida State Thursday night in search of their first ACC victory of the season. UM is 7-2 in games at the Convocation Center this season, averaging 69 points per game at home compared to 52.3 points per game on the road. Junior Tamara James leads the ACC and is second in the NCAA in scoring, averaging 22.6 points per game. James also leads the Hurricanes in rebounding with 7.1 rebounds per game and is averaging 8.8 rebounds in ACC play. Senior Yalonda McCormick is second in the ACC in both steals (3.18) and assists (6.06) per game. She is second in the team in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per game. Freshman Albrey Grimsley has stepped up her game in conference play, averaging 8.6 points in ACC games and senior Fallon Phanord, who is one of only two players to start all 18 games this season, has recorded personal highs in every category in 2004-05.

The Seminoles
Head coach Sue Samrau and the 18th-ranked Seminoles head to Coral Gables with a program-best overall record of 18-2 and an ACC-leading 5-1 mark in conference play. FSU has won five straight, including three consecutive overtime games with wins over No. 15 Maryland and No. 9 North Carolina and most recently, a 81-78 double overtime victory over at Virginia Tech. The Seminoles are led by senior Roneeka Hodges, who is tied for second in the ACC with 19.5 points per game on the season. Hodges leads the conference in scoring in ACC games, averaging 24.3 points in league play. Sophomore Alicia Gladden leads the ACC in steals, averaging 3.50 per game and is third in the conference in field goal percentage (.567). Gladden also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.1 boards per game.
