Hurricanes Host Stetson Wednesday Afternoon
Aug. 29, 2005
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s soccer team will play host to in-state rival Stetson Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.
In a game originally scheduled for 7 p.m. but moved to an earlier time due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, the Hurricanes (1-0) head into Wednesday’s match with the Hatters (2-0) coming off an impressive 4-0 win Sunday afternoon in Coral Gables in the season-opener.
Miami used goals by four newcomers – freshmen Bryn Heinicke, Meghan McKinsey and Tessa Lennala and sophomore Rebecca Tweneboah, a transfer from Notre Dame – in the victory against the Hawks.
Tweneboah made her UM debut a memorable one, also adding two assists in the shutout over Monmouth, while Heinicke, McKinsey and Lennala each also recorded an assist.
Stetson travels to Coral Gables having opened the season with back-to-back wins, downing Stony Brook, 2-1, last Friday and McNeese State, 1-0, Sunday night in Deland.
The Hurricanes have won all five previous meetings with Stetson, but haven’t faced the Hatters since 2002 when they downed Stetson, 7-0, in the largest home victory in school history.
Tickets for Wednesday’s game, along with all UM home games are just $5 dollars for adults and $3 dollars for children and senior citizens. To purchase tickets or for more ticket information, please contact the Hurricane Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-CANES or visit on-line at www.hurricanesports.com.
