Bounds to Compete in Speedo National Diving Championships

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – University of Miami junior diver Heather Bounds prequalified for the 2005 Speedo National Diving Championships that will take place Tuesday, August 9 through Saturday, August 13 at the Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics in Huntersville, NC. Bounds will compete in the platform and platform synchronized events. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Approximately 125 divers from across the country will compete in the five-day event. Competition will be conducted in five events for both men and women: 1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard, 10-meter platform, 3-meter synchronized springboard and 10-meter synchronized platform. The top diver in each individual event and each member of the top synchronized team will be named national champions.
The women’s platform preliminary and semifinal competition will begin August 9th at 4:00 p.m. with the final take place on August 12th at 1:30 p.m. The platform synchro will begin August 13 at 3:00 p.m.
Also participating in the 2005 Speedo National Diving Championships is former UM standout Kyle Prandi. Prandi, who won a NCAA Championship on the platform in 2002, will also compete in the men’s platform and platform synchro.
