Hurricanes' Practice Cancelled Due to Rain
March 23, 2005
Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The Miami Hurricanes were rained out of practice today, which would have been their fifth day of spring practice. The torrential rain flooded the three practice fields in a matter of minutes.
“We’re disappointed today because we got a lot of rain and lightning,” said head coach Larry Coker. “We never get that in March in Miami, but we did today; this was like an August rain. We don’t play (a game) on Saturday, so there’s no need to go out and press the envelope. This would have been an important day for us. We had a lot of third down drills that we wanted to accomplish, but we’ll make them up.”
Coker added that the day of practice is now lost and cannot be made up prior to the April 9 spring game.
On Thursday, the Hurricanes will practice at 6:00 p.m. at Traz Powell Stadium on the North Campus of Miami-Dade Community College. The practice is open to the public. The stadium is located at 11380 N.W. 27th Avenue.
“It’ll be a practice and we’ll have some scrimmage involved,” Coker added. “We’re there to move our football team around a little bit. We’ve invited a lot of youth league teams and high school coaches and players, so hopefully we’ll have a good turnout and fans can watch us play.”
