Hurricanes Take on In-State Rivals Jacksonville and Stetson

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will host a pair of in-state rivals in Jacksonville and Stetson Friday and Saturday, respectively, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Both matches are slated for a 6 p.m. start.

The 51st-ranked Hurricanes (3-1) enter Friday’s match with Jacksonville (2-5) having won each of their last two matches, including a 7-0 sweep over Georgia Southern last Sunday at home.

With a win at No. 2 singles against the Eagles, junior Tim Krebs – ranked 123rd nationally in singles – won in straight sets to improve to 4-0 in dual play this season.

Sophomore Eric Hechtman also finished with a straight-set win at No. 3 against GSU to remain undefeated at 3-0 in singles play this spring.

Hechtman, along with teammate, sophomore Josh Cohen, won at No. 1 singles against the Eagles to claim their second victory in as many matches this season.

UM is holds a perfect 6-0 mark all-time against the Dolphins, downing JU, 6-1 last season in Coral Gables. Saturday’s match with Stetson (6-0) will be the first meeting between the two schools.

Admission to the weekend’s matches, as well as all UM home matches is free to students and the general public.
