Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Miami’s fourth-ranked football team began it preparations for the Houston Cougars on Monday and face a short work week, as Thursday’s nationally televised ESPN broadcast at Reliant Stadium in Houston looms.

“Today was our major work day,” Miami head coach Larry Coker said. “Tomorrow will be like a normal Thursday routine for us. We got a lot of work done today. We were able to work on a lot of situational things. I think a big key for us is being mentally ready and hungry. I think we will be excited to play by Thursday.”

The Miami coaches have spent the last 48 hours since the win over Louisiana Tech cramming a week’s worth of work for the Cougars into two days.

“It has really been more a cram session for the coaches than the players,” Coker said. “It has been a lot of extra time for the coaches, making sure we get everything in.”

Miami will return to the practice field on Tuesday for a light workout before leaving for Houston on Wednesday.
