UM Welcomes Montana to the Convocation Center Monday Night

Taking on the Lady Griz for the first time in school history, the University of Miami women’s basketball team will host Montana Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

Monday’s game will be carried live on WVUM (90.5 FM) and can also be heard live via the web at hurricanesports.com, which will also feature live stats. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors and can be purchased through the Hurricane Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-CANES or on the web at hurricanesports.com.

The Hurricanes
Miami looks to win two-in-a-row for the second time this season Monday night when they host the University of Montana at the Convocation Center. The Hurricanes are undefeated at home this season, posting an overall record of 3-0 at the Convocation Center, and have won seven-straight at home dating back to last season. Junior All-American candidate, Tamara James leads the Hurricanes and the ACC in scoring, averaging 21.9 points per game after turning in a 29-point outing against UCF. Since making her way into the UM starting lineup over the past three games, the Hurricanes have also seen an increase in production from sophomore Imani Dhahabu, who has averaged 7.7 points and seven rebounds per game during that span. Senior Fallon Phanord has also stepped up over the past three games, averaging a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game while turning in 5.7 points per game.

Montana
Montana heads to Coral Gables having lost their last two games, a 59-58 heartbreaker in the final seconds at Idaho and most recently, a 57-51 decision at home against Gonzaga Dec. 10. As a team, Montana has relied on defense this season holding opponents to under 59 points per game. UM is also holding opponents to just under 36 percent shooting while averaging over six blocks per game, both of which lead the Big Sky Conference. The Lady Griz are lead by senior Hollie Tyler, who is averaging 14.0 points and 9.4 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game. Tyler is the school leader in career blocks and currently ranks fourth all-time in scoring and sits at seventh place-all time in rebounding. Junior Katie Edwards, who averages 11.9 points per game this season, is one of UM’s all-time greats from outside the arc totaling 132 career three’s which ranks fourth all-time at UM. The Lady Griz are under the guidance of head coach Robin Selvig, who is now in his 27th season of the Montana program and ranks 6th in the nation in winning percentage (.775) among active Division I coaches.
