Hurricanes Invited to USTA/ITA Women's National Team Indoor Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team has been invited to the 2005 USTA/ITA Women’s National Team Indoor Championships that will take place February 3-6 and features 16 of the nation’s top collegiate women’s teams.

The tournament, which is sponsored by the United States Tennis Association, will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Madison at the A.C. Nielson Tennis Stadium. Wisconsin has served as host of the event since the tournament’s inception in 1988.

The 16 teams that have been invited to the annual tournament are Clemson, Duke, Georgia, Harvard, Kentucky, Miami, New Mexico, North Carolina, Northwestern, Southern California, Stanford, Tulane, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Washington and host Wisconsin.

The Hurricanes will open the 2005 spring season with two home matches before traveling to the three-day tournament. Miami will face cross town rival Florida International at home Jan. 28th at 6:00 pm and host the University of Pennsylvania Jan. 29th at 2:00 pm.
