Hurricanes Strap on the Pads for Tuesday Workout

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Despite a recent rash of injuries, the University of Miami’s 12th-ranked football team conducted a normal Tuesday practice with full-contact work at the Greentree Practice Fields.

“There were questions asked earlier today about all of the injuries and bumps and bruises,” head coach Larry Coker said. “We had a normal Tuesday practice. We were in full pads, and we tackled. We competed against each other. The guys responded well, and we had a good practice. We took a step today to have a chance to win the game.”

Coker was complementary of the work put in by the Hurricanes’ scout teams. “I was really pleased with the scout team,” Coker said. “They really did a lot today to help us get better.”

The Hurricanes face a Wake Forest team that is 4-5 on the season and in need of wins in their final two games (Miami and Maryland) to become bowl eligible. Wake Forest has not been to a bowl game since the 2002 Seattle Bowl. The Demon Deacons are 1-5 in ACC play this year.

Miami will continue preparations for Wake Forest on Wednesday with a 3:10 p.m. practice at the Greentree Practice Fields.
