Hurricanes Energy Level Up as Virginia Game Nears

Nov. 11, 2004

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Head Coach Larry Coker’s 17th-ranked Hurricanes worked out for an hour and a half Thursday afternoon in shorts and helmets reviewing the game plan for Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. contest at Virginia on ABC.

“This was a good day,” Coker said following Thursday’s workout. “The energy level was good and the attitude was good. Again, we just have to carry it over to Saturday.

The status of All-America candidate Antrel Rolle improved on Thursday as the senior cornerback fully participated in the Hurricanes’ practice.

“He practiced today,” Coker said. “He did very little yesterday (Wednesday), basically just a walk through recognition, but today he practiced fully. To say he is full speed, I wouldn’t say that, but it will be interesting to see how he moves around tomorrow.”

Rolle is expected to play on Saturday against Virginia but will not start. Sophomore corner Devin Hester will get the start in place of Rolle. It will mark Hester’s second straight start on the Miami defense after starting at nickel cornerback against Clemson.

“Devin has had a good week,” Coker said. “He is getting better every week, but he should get better every week.”

Miami will have a quick walk-through practice on Friday before boarding the team plane for Virginia.
