Men's Tennis Heads to Crimson Tide Fall Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Six members of the University of Miami men’s tennis team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend to take part in the Crimson Tide Fall Championships hosted by the University of Alabama at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The three-day tournament will feature 18 teams from around the country with seven nationally-ranked players. The tournament will be composed of three flights – A, B and C – in both doubles and singles, with back draws in each flight ensuring each players competes in at least three matches.
Newly appointed UM head coach Mario Rincon, who served as an assistant coach with the Crimson Tide for the past three seasons, will return to Alabama for the first time since being hired at Miami earlier this month.
Representing the Hurricanes will be juniors Eric Hechtman and Tim Krebs, sophomores Josh Cohen and Neil Sehgal and freshmen Ryan Waits and Vivek Subramanian.
Cohen, ranked 76th in the nation in singles, and Hechtman, the nation’s No. 78 singles player, drew the third and fifth seed, respectively, in the Flight A singles and will compete together in doubles as Flight A’s No. 2 seed.
Krebs and Subramanian drew the Flight B No. 2 seed while UM’s duo of Sehgal and Waits will play as the No. 3 seed in the Flight C doubles tournament.
The tournament is slated to being Friday morning with opening draws at 9 a.m. running through Sunday’s finals.
