Miami Welcomes No. 16 Duke to Cobb Stadium
Oct. 2, 2004
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will play host to ACC rival Duke this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.
Having won two of their last three matches, the Hurricanes enter Sunday’s match with an overall record of 2-5 with a 1-3 record in conference play.
The Hurricanes will look to rebound from a disappointing 4-2 loss at Clemson Wednesday evening in the last outing after downing ACC counterpart Maryland (2-1) and in-state foe Jacksonville (3-1) one week ago.
Miami’s Kristen Chapman and Andrea Radice each scored their first goal of the season against the Tigers, joining five other UM players with at least one goal this season. Lindsey Yach leads the Hurricanes with a pair of goals – both penalty kicks – on the year.
The Blue Devils head to Coral Gables after downing ninth-ranked Florida State 2-0 Friday night to improve to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.
In addition to Sunday’s soccer match with the Blue Devils, fans are invited out to attend the Hurricanes’ volleyball match with Duke at 1 p.m. As part of the Women’s Sports Day promotion, all Junior Canes and their families are encouraged to arrive early for the pre-game party at 11:30 a.m.
Fans will be treated to sno-cones, cotton candy, family fun and a post-game autograph session with the women’s soccer team.
Tickets are only $5 for adults and $3 for children and are available at the Cobb Stadium or Knights Sports Complex main entrance.
