Hurricane Divers Conclude Platform Semifinals at 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami divers Derek Starks (Mission Veijo, Calif.) and Heather Bounds (Austin, Texas) wrapped up the first day of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving Team Trials Monday evening at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.
Starks turned in a 17th place finish in the men’s platform semifinals, posting a score of 486.75 after finishing 17th in the prelims with a mark of 313.17.
Bounds finished Monday’s platform semifinals in 16th place, recording a score of 387.54 following a 16th place finish in the prelims with a score of 235.56
Former UM diver Kyle Prandi also competed in Monday’s events, taking 5th in the men’s platform semifinals with a score of 561.00.
The men’s platform finals will conclude Saturday, June 12 will the women’s finals will be held Sunday, June 13.
The 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials will continue Tuesday with the men’s 3 meter springboard prelims and semifinals beginning at noon followed by the women’s 3 meter springboard prelims and semifinals at 7 p.m.
