Women's Track Qualifies Two For NCAA Regionals

Gainesville, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team qualified two athletes for the NCAA Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championships to highlight Friday’s action at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. Four additional Hurricanes recorded qualifying marks for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
Competing in the 400-meter hurdles for the first time, sophomore All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships finishing fourth with a time of 57.99 seconds.
Freshman Amy Seward (Virginia Beach, Va.), who earned All-America honors in the long jump during the indoor season, qualified for the Regional Championships finishing fourth in the long jump with a season-best outdoor mark of 5.99 meters (19-08.00).
Junior Amber Williams (Succasunna, N.J.) finished 13th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09 seconds to qualify for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships for the third straight year.
In the 400-meter dash, junior Wiande Moore (Spring, Texas) was also a BIG EAST qualifier, finishing 13th with a time of 55.76.
Junior Chinela Davis (Haverstraw, N.Y.) placed 22nd in the 100-meter dash with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 12.22 seconds, while senior Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge) qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in the discus with a throw of 43.45 meters (142-07).
The 4×200-meter relay of junior All-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pa.), Moore, sophomore All-America Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern), and Darden was also impressive finishing second with a time of 1:34.38.
