No. 22 Hurricanes Down No. 35 Baylor, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 22 ranked Miami women’s tennis team downed No. 35 Baylor 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Bears fall to 2-6 overall.
Miami leads the all-time series 3-1over Baylor.
The Hurricanes swept through doubles play with wins at all three spots. Melissa Applebaum (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Megan Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) teamed up to knock off No. 37 Stephanie Balzert and Daria Potapova 8-3 at No. 1 singles.
Miami up 1-0 in the match entering singles play tallied two quick points as Mari Toro (Miami, Fla.) and Audrey Banada (North Miami Beach, Fla.) won matches at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.
Toro beat Daniela Covello 6-1, 6-2 and Banada downed Iva Mihaylova 6-1, 6-2.
The Hurricanes continued to build on their 3-0 lead as Applebaum beat Klara Zrustova 7-6 (5), 6-1 at No. 3 singles to solidify the victory over the Bears.
No. 11 Bradley beat No. 49 Carolin Walter in three sets at the No. 1 spot 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, while newcomer Natalie Mikolich downed Izabela Mijic 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The Hurricanes are back in action traveling to No. 75 USF Friday at 1 p.m.
