Hurricane Tandem Places Fourth at Second Day of 2004 World Cup Diving Trials

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami teammates Derek Starks (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Miguel Velazquez (Miami, Fla.) finished fourth in the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard on Friday afternoon at the 2004 World Cup Diving Trials in Huntersville, N.C.

The Hurricane duo combined for a score of 567.87 in the final round to place fourth overall.

Freshman Heather Bounds (Austin, Texas) teamed with Ashley Bourland in the women’s synchronized platform, but withdrew after the preliminary round after scoring 221.79.

Action will resume tomorrow at the World Cup Diving Trails with the women’s 3-meter springboard prelims beginning at 11 a.m.
