Football Practice Report - Tuesday, September 16

Sept. 17, 2003

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football team held a two-hour workout in full pads on Tuesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields in preparation for this weekend’s upcoming game at Boston College.

The Hurricanes have relied heavily on the scout team to simulate the play of Boston College and in particular the Eagles’ running back Derrick Knight.

“Tyrone Moss was our Derrick Knight on the scout team for a good portion of the practice,” head coach Larry Coker said. “He will give you a pretty good look at that position.”

A number of the Hurricanes’ scout team members have contributed to Miami’s season thus far.

“A lot of young guys have done a great job (on the scout team),” Coker said. “Willie Cooper was the scout team player of the week for us last week. He did a great job getting ready for East Carolina and has done a great job this week. Greg Olsen (tight end) has done a great job on offense and Kyle Wright (quarterback) has been spectacular. Those guys are skilled athletes, but the offensive line has done a great job as well. Chris Napoli and those guys have done a great job.”

The Hurricanes will continue to prepare for BC with a practice session scheduled for Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
