Marc Guillon Leaves Football Team

Aug. 20, 2003

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Redshirt freshman quarterback Marc Guillon has decided to leave the University of Miami program, head football coach Larry Coker announced this afternoon.

“We’re certainly disappointed to be losing Marc Guillon,” Coker said. “He’s a fine young man and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Guillon, a native of Moraga, Calif., came to UM from Miramonte High School in Orinda, Calif., signing with the Hurricanes in February of 2002. He played in two games during the 2002 season, completing three of five passes for 53 yards and one touchdown (a 39-yard pass against Florida A&M).

“The past year at Miami has been a very positive learning experience for me, both athletically and academically, but I have decided to pursue other opportunities,” Guillon said. “I wish nothing but the best for the Miami coaches and my teammates. It’s just a situation that didn’t work out for me. I’m looking forward to the future and a chance to continue my college career.”

Guillon’s departure leaves the Hurricanes with three scholarship quarterbacks on the 2003 roster: junior Brock Berlin, junior Derrick Crudup and freshman Kyle Wright.

The Hurricanes open the 2003 football season on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Shreveport, La., by taking on the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech. That game will be televised nationally by ESPN and is slated for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
