Football Practice Report - Monday, August 11

Aug. 11, 2003

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami began its second full week of practice on Monday with the team’s second day of two-a-day practice at the Greentree Practice Fields. The Hurricanes practiced in full pads during both two-hour sessions.

The Hurricanes’ received some good news on the status of sophomore wide receiver Roscoe Parrish, who went down in Saturday’s practice with an injury to his right knee.

“Roscoe had arthroscopic knee surgery this morning,” Head Coach Larry Coker said. “We got great news on that and there is no major damage. He will be doing some rehab for a few days and we hope to have him back for the Louisiana Tech game.”

Coach Coker also addressed the long snapping situation. Senior Chris Harvey returns for his fourth season in the job, but the coaching staff is trying to develop depth at the position. Several players have worked at the position during practices, including defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, center Chris Myers and former tight end Curtis Justus.

Chris Harvey is going to be the guy,” Coach Coker said. “He’s the starter right now, but we are trying to develop some younger guys and right now is a great time to do that.”

UM will continue practice on Tuesday with a scheduled 3:30 p.m. workout. Practice will remain open to the public through the conclusion of the Wednesday, Aug. 13, practice.
