CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football team wrapped up the first week of preseason practice with a two-hour session in shorts and shoulder pads on Sunday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields. The Hurricanes’ practice concluded with game-type situations.

“It was a good afternoon,” head coach Larry Coker said. “We got a chance to work on some two minute drills. Throughout camp they will get the chance to work on a lot of those things. We will work on overtime, two minute, and red zone drills. We are into the situational things now. Overall, I think we had a great day.”

Coker was pleased with the progress of the newcomers during the first week of practice.

“With the younger players this can be a slow and confusing process,” Coach Coker said. “They are in the process of being tested along with all of the things that you do when coming in, so they miss some meeting time, but I feel that we are on schedule.”

The Hurricanes will return to the practice fields on Monday with an early morning workout scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and an afternoon practice at 3:30 p.m. Practice will remain open to the public through Aug. 13.
