Soccer Falls To No. 19 Boston College

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 19 Boston College in a BIG EAST Northeast Division matchup Friday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Hurricanes fall to 9-7-1 and 3-2-0 in BIG EAST action. The Eagles improve to 12-2-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.
Miami remains in a three-way tie for first place in the BIG EAST. Miami, No. 14 Connecticut and St. John’s all have nine points in the league standings.
Boston College is now tied for fourth place with seven points on the season. The top four teams from the Northeast Division and the Mid-Atlantic Division make the BIG EAST Tournament beginning Nov. 1.
Boston College scored its first goal just four minutes into the match. Katie McGregor knocked in a rebound from a head ball that bounced off the cross bar taken by fellow classmate Lindsey McArdle. Molly Dane also assisted on the goal.
The Eagles wasted little time as they scored the game’s second goal just over nine minutes later. Beth Totman collected a pass from McArdle in the box.
McGregor scored again at the 23 minute-mark on a pass from Heather Ferron and Totman.
The Hurricanes had four shots in the first half and four in the second totaling eight shots on the night. Three of Miami’s shots were on goal as Britney Butcher (Bothell, Wash.), Anik Huffman (winter Park, Fla.) and Caitlin Oyler (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) each recorded a shot on goal.
The Eagles took eight shots in the first half and five in the second for a total of 13 shots. BC recorded seven shots on goal.
Miami goalie Alex Alford (Atlanta, Ga.) played 90 minutes in goal allowing three goals and making four saves in the match.
BC edged Miami on corner kicks three to one.
The Hurricanes travel to Providence for their regular season finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
