CORAL GABLES, Fla.-University of Miami sophomore Lindsey Yach (Carrollton, Texas) scored her third goal of the season in the 34th minute leading the Hurricanes to a 2-0 shutout over Columbia Sunday afternoon at Cobb Stadium.
Miami earns its first home win of the 2003 season improving to 4-3-0 overall, while the Lions fall to 2-3-0 on the season.
The Hurricanes have posted three shutouts so far this season.
Yach’s goal was assisted by Britney Butcher (Bothell, Wash.) and Anik Huffman (Winter Park, Fla.).
Huffman scored her first goal of the season in the 79th minute giving Miami the 2-0 advantage. Her goal was assisted by Butcher and Sheuneen Ta (London, England).
Butcher’s two assists on the day moved her to the top of Miami’s All-Time Career List with 63 total points in her career.
Miami outshot the Lions 25 to five in the match and held the seven to three advantage on corner kicks.
UM freshman Alex Alford (Atlanta, Ga.) made three saves in 90 minutes of action.
Miami is back in action Friday participating in the FSU Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla.
