Soccer Hosts Florida In Exhibition Match

CORAL GABLES, Fla.- The University of Miami women’s soccer team will take on Florida in an exhibition match scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at Cobb Stadium on the UM Campus.

With practice getting underway on Wednesday, August 13, the Hurricanes are looking forward to the scrimmage against the Gators.

Tricia Taliaferro begins her second season at the helm of the Miami women’s soccer program.

She is looking forward to the return of 12 players, including six starters from last years 9-9-1 club.

The Hurricane soccer club finished second in the BIG EAST Northeast Division the highest finish for any Miami team. Miami wrapped up the season with a 4-1-1 record in conference.

Top returnees include Britney Butcher, Vonda Matthews and Lindsey Yach.

Admission is free for Saturday’s exhibition match.

The Hurricanes open the 2003 season on Aug. 29 versus Indiana at FAU in Boca Raton, Fla.
