Kathleen O'Dell Named Assistant Swimming Coach

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami head swimming and diving coach Mariusz Podkoscielny announces the hiring of Kathleen O’Dell as assistant coach. O’Dell comes to Miami after serving two years as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving program at Bucknell University.

As an assistant at Bucknell, O’Dell worked with the stroke and mid-distance swimmers while serving as the Bisons’ recruiting coordinator.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, O’Dell was a standout swimmer at North Hills High School and was a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic All-Conference selection four times.

O’Dell continued success at the collegiate level, attending Bloomsburg University. While at Bloomsburg, O’Dell was a NCAA Division II National Qualifier and two-time All-American. She was selected to the Pennsylvania State Athletic All-Conference team three times, as well as a four-year scholar-athlete at both the University and All-Conference levels. O’Dell earned a degree in English and Political Science in 1999.

O’Dell began her coaching career at Lehigh University where she served as a graduate assistant on the Mountain Hawk staff for two years. At Lehigh O’Dell obtained her master’s in secondary education.
