Miami Football Practice Report - Tuesday, Aug. 12
Aug. 12, 2003
Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami football team had game officials on hand Tuesday afternoon as they practiced in full pads at the Greentree Practice Facility.
“We had the officials in today,” Coker said. “It’s always a good move for us to make sure were on the right track. We used the 25-second clock and called penalties and things like that to make sure were on top of our game.”
The practice was the Hurricanes only workout of the day, as they continue with two-a-day practices on Wednesday. UM will practice at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hurricanes are set to scrimmage during the 3:30 p.m. session, which will be the final practice open to the public this fall.
“It’s just going to be a scrimmage,” Coker said referring to Wednesday afternoon’s practice, “a set number of plays, but a little bit more than we had (during Saturday’s scrimmage), but we are going to pick up our tempo a little bit.”
Coker was extremely pleased with the progress that has been made along the offensive line, which has worked hard during fall practice.
“The offensive line had a much better day today,” Coker said. “I thought they competed better and were much more effective in the 9-on-9 drills against the pass rush. I think they are going to get better and better, it is just going to take a lot of work because that is a hard position to play. They are seeing a lot of different things from our defensive line, and our defensive line is pretty good.”
