Miami Names Bryan Getz Men's Tennis Head Coach

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami athletic department names Bryan Getz head coach of the men’s tennis team.
Getz served as the interim coach for the 2003 season guiding the Hurricanes to a 13-8 overall record and its seventh consecutive NCAA appearance.
The Hurricanes were the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament and finished with a No. 33 national ranking.
Prior to spending last season as the interim coach Getz was the assistant coach for two years at Miami.
In his two years as assistant the team advanced to the NCAA tournament, won a BIG EAST title and made it to the Sweet 16 with a final ranking of No. 11 in the nation.
Getz also coached his first All-American as Todd Widom advanced to the NCAA Round of Sixteen in his freshman season and the semifinals his sophomore season.
Prior to joining the staff Getz played tennis at Duke University. He was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference honor roll during his four-year career at Duke.
Ari Widlansky will begin his second season as assistant coach at Miami.
Prior to joining the UM staff, Widlansky played at the Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance in 2002. Widlansky also achieved an Indiana Recognition Award and was a member of the Alpha Beta Honorary during his four years.
