No. 25 Men's Tennis Beats No. 53 Notre Dame, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 25-ranked Miami men’s tennis team won its sixth match in a row with a 6-1 victory over No. 53 Notre Dame Sunday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes improve to 12-5 on the season while the Fighting Irish fall to 6-10 overall.
Miami leads the all-time series 16-8 over Notre Dame.
The Hurricanes won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles taking the early lead in the match. Colin Purcell teamed up with Andrew Golub to beat Brent D’Amico and Matt Scott 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
On court No. 2 Todd Widom and Eric Hechtman defeated Luis Haddock and Brian Farrell 8-6.
Miami went on to take five-of-six singles matches from Notre Dame in the winning effort.
Widom beat Haddock in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Purcell and John Hoyes also won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6 singles for the Hurricanes.
Luis Manrique lost the first set to D’Amico at No. 3 singles but rallied to win the next two earning his fourth straight win.
Hechtman won his first set 6-3 and was winning the second set 5-4 when Farrell retired.
The Hurricanes return to action travelling to face No. 43 South Florida Saturday at Noon.
