No. 22 Men's Tennis Beats Wisconsin, 4-3

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Luis Manrique (Key Biscayne, Fla.) clinched a 4-3 win for the No. 22-ranked Miami men’s tennis team over Wisconsin Wednesday night at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes won their fourth straight match, improving to 10-5 on the season. Wisconsin falls to 3-7 overall.
Manrique beat Dave Hippee in straight sets 7-6, 7-5 improving his record to 2-1 at No. 2 singles.
Miami was down 1-0 in the match after falling at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Tim Krebs (Germany) teamed with John Hoyes (Miami, Fla.) to beat Scott Green and Mark Weinig 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Krebs, who worked his way back from an injury, made a strong showing in his first outing since Jan. 30, 2003.
Hoyes tied the match one-all as he defeated Ward Bortz 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
The Badgers took the 2-1 lead as Jeremiah Fuller downed Zachary Hood (Brentwood, Tenn.) 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
Freshman Eric Hechtman (Miami, Fla.) tied the match for the second time at two-all with a straight set 6-3, 6-0 victory over Blake Baratz at No. 3 singles.
Hechtman won his sixth match in a row, improving to 12-3 on the season.
The Badgers took their final lead of the night as Alex Kasarov beat Andrew Golub (Miami, Fla.) 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot.
Freshman Colin Purcell (Louisville, Ky.) tied the match three-all with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Green at No. 4 singles.
Manrique then sealed the victory over UW.
The Hurricanes face Dartmouth Friday at 6 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
