Hurricanes Place In BIG EAST Preliminary Round

Uniondale, NY (www.hurricanesports.com) – – Hurricane sprinter Christine Williams (Trenton, NJ) took second place in the 50-yard freestyle events in the preliminary round of the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday morning in Uniondale, NY.

Williams improved upon her 2002 final time of 23.58, clocking in at 23.42.

Teammates Elaine Schwartz (Mt. Laurel, NJ) and Manon Van Rooijen (Westdorpe, Holland) also competed well, placing third and fourth respectively in the 200-yard IM. Schwartz finished with a time of 2:02.41, while Van Rooijen finished in 2:03.24.

The finals for the 50 free and the 200 IM will begin at 6 p.m. tonight.
