UM divers place in national event

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – – Melanie Rinaldi and Miguel Velazquez of the University of Miami men’s and women’s diving teams placed highly among considerable fields of competition Wednesday at the Speedo America Cup in Bloomington, Ind.

Velazquez, who placed second in the 10-meter diving event Tuesday, took third out of a field of 41 in the 3-meter competition Wednesday with a score of 345.25.

Rinaldi improved upon her performance in the previous day’s competition to place fourth in the 10-meter event after earning a 220.50.

The Speedo America Cup competition continues today.
