– FromColonel Robert House: Washington , DC
: Willis, I am currently stationed in the pentagon and I have followed your career since your arrival at UM. I read a few stories about your hard work and dedication while working with your Uncle this past summer. You just keep that same focus and level of dedication and I will see you back playing ball in due time if it’s God’s will. If not, your dedication and prayers will take you to what ever in store for you.
Your mother was truly outstanding on the pre-Heisman show and I am sure she will keep you on track with life. Notice I didn’t say football, but with life. Again, hang tough and if I am not in some far off country I will be looking forward to seeing you in action next year in the National title game. Robert House US Army
: Andrew Mark Hansen: Lantana, Florida: You made a great effort all year. Congratulations on a successful season.Be positive, you have all the support you need. Whatever you decide is best for you is what you should do.

My Prayers are with you! I played a year at FAMU before leaving and played against Portis in High School, I have seen what football can due, I pray that you continue to follow God through your Rehab, If you keep your eyes on Him all things will work out. Where I am not a Miami fan, I am a Willis McGahee fan, so get well and hope to see you running over other players (after the Florida game would be nice).
God Bless You in Your Rehab and in Life
Russell BrownYouth Pastor
Joel K. Johnson: Carthage, Tennessee: Mr. Willis McGahee,
Man, I cannot put into words how bad I felt watching you go down in the National Championship game.I turned away as I saw the injury.
I began to talk to the Lord about it, and I think you’ll be just fine. One condition though, is you have to stay at the University Of Miami until you graduate.(Ok…I was just kidding there)
I wish you would return and help the Hurricanes win titles in 2003 AND 2004.But, that is just selfish on my part.Do what is right for you and your family.(Give me your phone number so I can talk to you and your family showing you that returning to play in a Hurricane uniform IS the right thing to do.
lol)
I wish you the best of luck in recovery, and look forward to seeing you play again on any field.
Just another brother in Christ, and Miami Hurricane fan to the bone….With Honor,Joel Johnson
Bryan: Highlands Ranch, CO: I just wanted to wish you the best. Although I am a buckeye fan to the bone, I’m a football fan first and you are one of the best football players I have ever watched. Good luck in your rehab and I hope to see you back on the field soon.

Phil Meyer: Middletown NJ: Willis,
As a Student at Miami my heart broke when you suffered the tragic injury early in the fourth quarter. I think I speak for all Miami fans when I say without you the Fiesta Bowl could not have been possible. You are a class act both on and off the field and we all know and are pulling for you to come back stronger than ever. Thank you so much for the enjoyment you have given to all of us throughout this season. We all wish you a speedy recovery.

Todd Jordan, Dallas, TX: Willis, The time you have put into conditioning and workouts paid huge dividends this year, not only for you, but for the team. Clearly you were the best running back in the country this year. Hard work this spring and summer will again pay huge dividends. There is unfinished business that was left in Tempe. Make the mental commitment now. When the time comes to begin rehabilation, you will have already overcome the toughest part. You are a CHAMPION !!! Remember there is unfinished business.
Best wishes,Todd Jordan

The amazing thing is that we all cried when you were injured. We are all praying for you. I want you to know that when things seem darkest, God will come through for you. It may sound simplistic but I believe there is something He wants to show the world through you. That faith and perserverance will reap a greater reward that we can imagine. I am confident that after your rehabilitation you will stronger, smarter and will be the great running-back that God has ordained you to be. We will prayerfully follow your progress.Yours in Christ

YOU TRULY WERE THE EMBODIMENT OF A CHAMPION- DETERMINED,RESILIENT, VICTORIOUS, YET HUMBLE. THE EVENTS ON FRIDAY NIGHT AREINDEED PAINFUL IN ALL ASPECTS, BUT NOTHING CAN BREAK THE HEART OF A CHAMPION! I FOUND DELIGHT AND INSPIRATION WATCHING YOU SIDESTEPPING ATHLETES, WHO AT TIMES APPEAR ALMOST MECHANICAL, ON COUNTLESS SATURDAYS. MY HEART ACHED FRIDAY NIGHT WHEN YOU SUFFERED THAT OBVIOUSLY DELIBERATE BLOW TO THE KNEE. AND YES, TODAY MY HEART ISSTILL ACHING KNOWING THE HARDSHIP THAT YOU WILL FACE DURING REHAB. YET, I FIND COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT YOUR SPIRIT IS NOT BROKEN, BECAUSE YOU ARE A CHAMPION!!! LIKE THE PHOENIX, YOU WILL RISE AGAIN!!! (HENCE YOUR NEW NICKNAME-WILLIS THE PHOENIX) MY WIFE AND I SINCERELY HOPE THAT AS YOU’VE INSPIRED US AND COUNTLESS OTHERS, THAT YOU MAY TRULY FIND SOLACE IN OUR GOOD WISHES AND PRAYERS. BROTHER, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! LET’S GO ‘CANES!!! LET’S WIN IT ALL NEXT YEAR! SINCERELY, DR. JR (MIAMI EDISON ’88)

Im very glad your Surgery went well and i hope you rehab and can get back to 100 percent. So Good Luck rehabbing and i wish you well on your comeback.
sincerly, your fanMike Diener
Ben Sosenko: Philadelphia, PA: The bogus call and loss to Ohio State in no way compares to the pain you are suffering. Just know that you had to have tons of heart and strength to get to where you were, and there is no doubt you’ll be able to get there again real soon. Representing the Canes, and more importantly my boy Willis in Philly. Ben
Matt Craig: Terrell, TX: Willis,
As a fan of college football, first of all I just want to say how much fun it was watching you play this year.
I’m a Texas fan and I can tell you that Priest Holmes was on top when he severely injured his knee and missed a year. He came back to help us win a Big 12 title and is torching the NFL now, and is an inspiration to many because of the man that he is off the field as much as the player he is on the gridiron.
Good luck to you in your rehab and I hope that I’m reading in ESPN the Magazine in the near future about the great comeback by a great man.
Sincerely,
Matt Craig
Stewart Patterson: Marietta, GA: Willis,
Good luck with a speedy recovery. I hope that everything goes well and that you will be able to make a full comeback. It does take time, man. I know that you can do it.
You are one of the best backs that I have ever seen play the game of football, and I hope that you will be able to be the best for alot more years.
I don’t know if there is any way possible, but could you send me an email letting me know that you got this. You and Kenny are my two favorite Canes and I think that you were hit with a low blow in the game by Allen.
Hope to see you next year in Miami at the games. Good luck and God Bless!!
Later,
Stewart Patterson

: Victor Rivera: Oviedo, Florida: It has been a joy to watch such a powerfull as yourself evolve from the fullback position to a tailback in the way that you have done it. You certainly have a gift not only inj your powerfull running but in your vision of the field. And it has come to you bu way of hard work and desire and love for the game. As a pop warner football coach and your #2 fan (only because you family would argue with me on this one), I want to wish you the best of luck in your recovery and can not wait to see you back in a “canes” uniform sporting your black shield running into an endzone crossing your arms and showing all of us “Canes” fans that any obstacle can be tacled and only with your will you WIL prevail. Pamela Lariosa: Warner Robins, Ga.: I hope you have a speedy recovery. All our prayers are with you. Miami is No. 1. and you help make them.I hope you will be ready to play next season. Wishing you the best.
Pam & family
John P. Haskins: Hilliard Ohio: Dear Willis, I hope you recover and go on to become a dominant pro player. But just a little word about those BUCKEYES from OSU. We play as a team , and lose as a team. Your teamates need to learn that lesson, especially Winslow and Pig Boy Romberg. You guys ran your mouth a little to long and dis-respected us , and look what you guys got! It feels good to be the CHAMPS! We hit hard, play hard and win with determination. Now maybe the big east will find a few more Rutgers or Temples or Syracuses or Sisters of the poor to play. Willis you are an awesome back, but our defense is better than YOU! GO BUCKS 2002 NATIONAL CHAMPS!
I want Willis to know that my thoughts and well wishes are with him for a speedy recovery along with many other fellow Hokies. Willis is an exceptional player and certainly is well respected. Even though we are rivals on the field and in our conference, we all share a love for the sport and an admiration for athletes like Willis who demonstrates an amazing ability on the field and seems to be a truly nice guy off the field. I am sure he will be back to his true form in due time performing with the same excellence as before. Certainly I wish him a speedy recovery,
Bryan Lawson
Justin Crum, Orlando, FL: Willis — you are the man! Your knee is in good hands in Miami and we know we’ll be seeing you on the field again. You gave Miami fans a lot of thrills this year, and we look forward to watching you on Saturdays and Sundays in the future.
George Kitchens: Tallahassee, Fl: Willis, the worst part of the game was your injury. All of us are sad but I am here to encourage you to have faith and to think ahead. I am praying for your recovery, both physically and mentally. We need you as a leader and player- don’t give up!!
Jose E. Valentin: Titusville, Florida: Willis,
I know that it must be hard to understand why an injury like this has come to you. All I can tell you is to draw strenght from God above. There is a whole nation praying for you and believing that you will overcome this and at the end you will become an even stronger person and better player. All things work for the good to those who believe and trust in Him. You are a CANE. Never, never give up. Everything will be fine at the end.
ELLEN CULLUM: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida: I’m so very sorry that you were injured. You and the Hurricanes have given me and my husband David so many great memories, too many to count. I am more devastated about your injury than about the loss to Ohio State. There can be another National Championship, but THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER WILLIS MCGAHEE. We are sending our best wishes to you, Willis, and we are looking forward to watching you when you return to the field. For now I’m going to try and fight the withdrawl pains (from no college football!!!!) and get ready for more great memories from you and the MIGHTY MIGHTY HURRICANES. GOOD LUCK AND HOPE THAT YOU RECOVER AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN RUN.. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU, ELLEN AND DAVID CULLUM. p.s. I saw your mother on the Heisman broadcast and I think you are very lucky to have her.
Keith Hunt: Columbus, Ohio: Not only are we talking about our championship here in Columbus, we are all hoping that you have a full recovery and are at 100% next year. Most of us would love a rematch in the Sugar Bowl
