Coral Gables, Fla., — www.hurricanesports.com – James Fowler L (“Jim”): Seffner, FL: Willis,
I have prayed for you and your current/temporary situation- I had 2 back surgeries prox. 10 yrs. ago and fully appreciate where you are at—-you will make it BrotherCane!!! As a guy it is as much of a mental battle as it is a rehab battle but you are in incredible shape and will get through this not-asked-for detour. God Bless you.
Standing with you,
Jim FowlerBA’70
John E. Terek: Asheboro, North Carolina: Just wanted to congratulate you on one Hell of a season! What you & the rest of the Team accomplished this year was spectacular! I know you along with the rest of the Team will be back, & be back with a Vengence! If there is one motto or theme for next year it should be “Unfinished Business @ the Bayou” So get well Willis, & I can’t wait until you’re back & running wild!
Luis Fernandez: Elizabeth, New Jersey: Hi Willis, First of all I’d like to say that I am a huge Cane fan despite living in NJ. I’d also like to say that I’ve been watching you all year and I’ve just got to tell you that you are the real deal, an unbelievable athlete with true heart and love for the sport, not to mention a class act,(which is rarely seen in athletes now a days) please don’t ever change. I was truly hurt to see that injury you received, especially on such an important game to you and just when I personally felt that you were starting to get into your groove. As much as that game meant to me, as soon as I saw that injury in slow motion, my heart went out to you man and I was no longer so concerned whether we won or lost. But, I know you will be back, you’re a warrior. Just like you said man, you are like Wolverine, and we all know nothing can stop him.. If I’m lucky, not only will you recover quickly and have another outstanding year at UM, but you will also go to the pros afterwards and join your fellow Cane, Jeremy Shockey with the Giants.
P.S. Nothing wrong with being a momma’s boy, just mean you truly love your mom.And by the way, that was a horrible call at the end of the game and I’m not being bias. In my heart and mind we are back to back National Champs and have a 35 game winning streak still alive.
Recover Quickly,Luis Fernandez
Tom Van Popering: Charlotte, NC: Willis, I enjoyed seeing you run through defensive lines this past year. I live in Charlotte but am an avid fan. We had tickets to the Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Fiesta Bowl. I know with your talent and inner strength you will be back within the next year than I can follow you in the NFL like James and Portis. Anyway, get well, there are many fans like me that are awaiting your healthy return.

Walt Boyer: Jacksonville Fl: Willis, like many others across the nation I was horrified when I saw you get hit like that. I know though that you have the stuff it takes to come back from this type of injury. Heck I believe that there are still a few records you havent broken yet. You are and have been a very important part of the UM program and now history an also a very exciting player to watch. Walt Boyer, Jacksonville Fl
Edward Jones: Cocoa, Florida: To Mr. McGaheeI just wanted to wish Willis a speedy and full recovery. We as Floridians are sickened by the sportsmanship displayed by Mr Allen. It was clear that Mr Allen intented to physically disable Mr Mcgahee. Where is the NCAA when this type of stuff takes place. We are all praying for Willis to fully recover and hope he does well in life. You are the greatest athlete to play at Miami. We all know that the Championship will be returned to Florida. Don’t worry Mr McGahee if Miami doesn’t bring it back next year I’m sure it will brought back by FSU or Florida. One way or another that trophy is coming back to Florida….Good luck!!!!
Vince Augustine: Miami Fl: Wishing you a quick, speedy and healthy recovery. I hope NCAA in the near future will do something about desperate team like the BUCKEYES, which intentionally prey on other team’s key player career.
Vince
Gerald Eady: Port Orange, FL: Dear Willis,
Just wanted to let you know that i was devestated by the injury that you suffered during the game, I admired your gracious running style and your will and determination to get that extra yard. In life God puts road blocks in our way to see how we overcome them, and this is just something to prove to him no matter what the obstacle you will overcome it. Always remember that famous bible verse Phillipians 4:13; I can do all things through christ that stengthens me. Good luck with your recovery process, keep your head up and God Bless….Your biggest fan…..

Your a great player who works hard and it shows. This is just a detour that life has you on, not the end of the road. You’ll be back stronger than ever. You can do it ! I really look forward to seeing you in the backfield again.

As a graduate of UM in ’93 I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. I was at the game and the team’s loss is nothing compared to the feeling I had about your injury. Here is the great thing though: You are a Cane. You exemplify everything it means to be a Cane. You are tough, smart, and most of all you are relentless. On the field it made you the best back in the country and in the rehab room it will allow you to come back stronger than you can imagine. You have a whole nation of Cane fans willing you to come back stronger than ever. Not for us, or for the team, but for you and what you have in front of you and your life. Be strong, and know we are all behind you 110%. Take care…

Kevin Matlock: Oviedo, Fl: Willis, As a huge hurricane fan the national championship seemed so important until seeing you go down at the end. I have been praying for you and know that your going to get through this setback. Things like this really put life in perspective and help us to focus on the things we may overlook at times. Dont give up man. I had a buddy who met you here in orlando and he said you were a class act. We can see that in you even on the field. Football will wait. George
Remy : Tallahassee, Fl: Being a seminole, I can’t help but to hate the canes. But that friday night I had to give the canes my respect. You guys played a tough game and left everything on that field. McGahee, you played your heart out and have to be commended on that. No one should have to go through such a gruesome injury as you did. But the whole nation is behind you. Keep your head up and may you have a speedy recovery. Best wishes to you and your family.
Remy
Rick Fong-Yee: Miami, Fl: Dear Willis,
I wish you all the best and a full and speedy recovery. You are one hell of a football player. I hope to see you on Sundays playing in the NFL. Keep the faith and hang in there.
Best regards,
Max J. Eckstein: Englewood, NJ: Willis, I am not the biggest Hurricanes fan, but this season I’ve loved watching you play and shred up the competition. By the Fiesta Bowl, you had become my favorite player in all of college football. That is why when I saw you go down with an injury on Friday night I felt so bad. Not only will I and many other fans miss your powerful yet graceful running style, but on a personal level, I truly am dismayed that you will have to put aside both your national championship and NFL hopes for one more season. I have full confidence that you will be able to make a full and speedy recovery and will set some new Miami records next season and win the Heisman and a championship. Conversely, I am also comforted to learn of the insurance policy you took out prior to the Fiesta Bowl, you can never be too cautious. Just stay positive and don’t rush yourself. P.S.: The interference call was bogus, you should’ve won. Best Wishes, Max Eckstein!
John R. Grover: Austintown, Ohio: Dear Willis,
I’m very sorry about your injury and I hope it doesn’t jeapordize your future. You guys just got goin when this happened to. Turnovers decreased and everything not to mention the blown call. But I hope to see you breakin more records next year to along with Gore. Get well soon and back to the national championship so you guys can get what is rightfully yours.
Robert Packman, Demarest NJ: Willis:Keep your spirits up,i have had 3 knee ops..as a former cane from the 60’s my heart goes out to you..You will endure and be back. Good luck and thanks for your great season
Marian Turkel: Chicago, Illinois: Willis, thank you for a great season.
You were a bright star on a wonderful team. Your runs, catches, and blocks were a marvel.
Good luck with your rehab. I know its hard to start back at the beginning, just know that there are thousands of Canes fans with you during every work out.
We look forward to seeing you back on the field stronger than ever, and we are with you 100%.
Caring thoughts,
Marian Turkel, RN, PhD ’97
Mark Brut: Marietta, GA: Willis,
Let me preface this by stating that I am NOT in any way a Miami fan. I went to Pitt, and am a huge Panthers fan. However, I feel compelled to wish you the best of luck in the recovery from your injury. It was just awful to watch as a fan of sports. From what I have seen, you are a truly gifted running back and a class individual. I hated to see that happen to you, even as a Miami-hater.
Stay strong and good luck.
Mark Brut
Judee Graham: Boynton Beach, Florida: Hey Willis,
I wish you the best. Hope your recovery goes well and I’ll be watching your progress. You are a credit to your family and the ‘Canes and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time. Keep up your spirits and know that we all want the best for you.
Robert Adams: Casselberry, FL: Dear Willis,
You are a person with style and class. Thank you for representing the U of Miami. I am sorry to hear about your injury but I know you will recover and be back to demonstrate more excellence on and off the football field. Don’t forget that your fans love and support you. Say hello to your Mother!Go Canes!
Derek, Dohrman, D: Grand Blanc, Michigan: being a fellow hurricane, the loss to ohio state was tough to watch. however, even tougher, was watching them play without you in there. your a great inspiration to many who have had to come from the bottom and work their way to the top, and to see you go out like that hurts all your fans deeply. we are all behind you and cannot wait for you to make a full recovery and lead the hurricanes to victory next season. i hope all is well.
The Rhodes Family, Friendswood, Texas: Willis,You had a tremendous season. We are very proud of your accomplishments and are looking forward to your successful return.Good Luck with your rehabilitation! We hope that your recovery is as smooth as your stride. It is great to be a Miami Hurricane.
Nancy S. Short: Palm Beach Gardens, FL: Willis, some many emotions and so little space. My first thought is get well wishes to you. Knowing you through the football program (avid football supported and ticket season holder for 10 years), I have no doubt that you will get right back to work on rehabing the knee. You will be such an inspiration to your other team members and because you are such a good guy, only good things will come to you.
Secondly, this team that you are a member of should be very proud of yourselves. You have made us Hurricane fans proud.
God Bless You!
John E. Avola: Palm Beach Gardens, FL: Dear Willis,Thanks for one of the most memorable seasons of college football I have witnessed in my 73 years.Right now your injury may appear to be devastating and life altering, but from what I read about you, this will just be another bump in the road.I wish you well, a speedy and complete recovery. My prayers are with you.Remember the best is yet to come, but not right away!I look forward with pleasure to your return to the gridiron.God Bless.
david smith: hudson, mi: Mr Mcghahee,
I was absolutely devastated when I seen the hit you took in the national title game. Before they ran the instant replay I knew that you were injured seriously. It really was too bad because you are such a great player and playmaker. It really changed the whole game, I could tell it motivated your guys but also it hurt not having you there. I wish you nothing but the best in the future in what ever you decide to do, good luck with you rehabilitation and get well fast.
Sincerely
David SmithHudson, Michigan
Travis Nevers: Concord California: Hey Willis, I hope you get well soon. I really want to see you in the backfeild next year.I’m from Concord California. That’s really close to where Ken Dorsey grew up, My HS football team plays against them every year.My dad was raised in Miami, so naturally, I love all miami teams, especialy the Canes. I really loved watching you play all this year, and I even recreated you to be on my madden 2003 Game. In your Rookie season you’re already averaging over200 yds a game.I’m writing this in my schools comp. lab and the bell just rang, so I’ve got to go.Best wishes-a huge fan
