Hurricanes Take Top Places At Meet

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – Despite falling 168-92, the University of Miami women’s swimming and diving team had several highlight performances against Harvard Wednesday at Coral Gables.
With a time of 1:54.62, Manon Van Rooijen placed first in the 200-yard freestyle event. She also placed first in the 100-yard free with a time of 52.09. The Dutch Olympian also placed third in the 100 butterfly.
Christine Williams placed first in the 50 free with a time of 24.43. Williams also placed second in the 100-yard free (52.90).
Elaine Schwartz placed third in the 100-yard free (10:51.23), second in the 200 butterfly (2:09.69), and second in the 200 IM; Katalin Ferenzci placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.19); Meghan Clabby placed second in the 100 back (1:07.76) and third in the 200 back.
The Hurricanes’ 400 free relay team of Williams, Erin Johns, Megan Kinsella, and Van Rooijen also took a first place finish with a time of 3:38.56.
