Tight-end Robert Williams succeeds on the field and off

May 14, 2002

Robert Williams, a fifth-year senior tight end on the football team, has been selected as the Athletic Department’s Academic All-Star for November 2001.

He graduated in December 2000 with a degree in finance in just 3 ˝ years. Williams currently works part-time for an investment firm in Miami and plans to finish his master’s degree in accounting by the end of his senior season.

Williams has been the consummate team player, seeing extensive action as a receiver, tight end, and fullback throughout his Miami career. Williams has a good speed for a tight end, running a 4.68 in the 40 and has a 32 inch vertical leap. He is one of the team’s top student athletes and is formerly one of the nation’s top high school wide receiver prospects.

This season Williams played exclusively at tight end, playing 10 out of 11 games during the regular season and was used extensively in double-tight end sets. He had two receptions for 15 yards, an 11 yard reception against Syracuse, and a four yard catch against Virginia Tech.
