Hurricanes Spring Football Practice Report

March 27, 2002

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricanes practiced for 90 minutes in shorts and shoulder pads as Spring Football Practice continued Wednesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields on the University of Miami campus.

The Hurricanes concentrated on positional fundamentals and the two-minute drill for most of the practice in preparation for a full-scale scrimmage to come tomorrow. Thursday’s practice will be closed to the public, the only workout that is closed this spring.

“We worked on the basics today, plus some two-minute drill, and I thought we looked pretty good,” head coach Larry Coker said. “This is one of those days where you get to see how you’re progressing. It’s not like a scrimmage, but there are always things in two-minute drills and such that let you see where you are. I’m encouraged by what I’ve seen.”

Five of the 15 practices remain before the Hurricanes conclude Spring Practice with the annual Fox SportsNet CanesFest Spring Game at the Orange Bowl. That event will be televised live by FOX SportsNet Florida.

Fans can join the team at the Orange Bowl on Saturday, April 6, for FOX SportsNet CanesFest and get an early peek at the Hurricanes in action during their annual Spring Game. Fans who purchase season tickets that day can select seats for the upcoming season, which features home games against Florida State and Virginia Tech. In addition to the game, players and coaches will be available for autographs and fans can tour the Hurricane locker room.
