Coral Gables, Fla (www.hurricanesports.com) — – Congratulations to the winner of the Greatest Fan Contest!: Charles Quinones from Miami

: I am the greatest fan because I LOVE MIAMI!!! This is my city and I have followed the Canes my whole life, from the 70’s when I went to the Orange Bowl with my father, even tho’ we were not a winning team then, going to those games started a tradition that I now continue with my sons. Those many evenings and afternoons spending time behind the left field fence at Mark Light catching home run balls, decorating my home in tradional Orange and Green, the tailgating experience with my wife and friends. On my honeymoon in 1990 going to the Orange Bowl to see the Canes play Iowa, taking my children to the several tick or tate parades to celebrate our Championships!!! Being at the airport to greet the teams as they returned from those great battles, this makes me a true CANES fan. And for the first time this past week going to Tenn to see the Canes in an amazing stadium and experience the spirit and sounds of a college game in an away game, WE GOT SOME CANES OVER HERE…W!

And congratulations to the other top entries:

Kyrstin Stone, Tallahassee, FL : As far back as i can remember the words Miami Hurricanes have been in my vocabulary. My 1st words, if i’m not mistaken, was Miami (fine it was daddy but it makes a good story doesn’t it!). I have attened as many games as i could and since i moved to Tallahassee (home of the Seminoles…BOOO) because of my fathers job I feel my hurricane fan-ness being tested daily. People always say “your only a Miami fan because their football team is winning now” bUT i have to reming thme that i was a fan back in the good old days the days when the miami football club was looked at as a bunch of Hoodlums. Then they say “well what about their other sports” and i again reply “my cousin Bruce Thompson payed for miami way before college was even in your little simple minded tallahassee dictionary” As i said i have been a fan forever. I have risked my life by wearing UM clothing and for even mentiong the dreaded name…”DORSEY”. I know I want to go to the University of Miami and have known ever since i could breathe! People in Tallahassee take sports very seriously…but no matter how much they try and bring me down, i will forever bleed orange and green. Go Canes!

Nick, Manzie, North Miami Beach, FL : Since 1989, when I moved to Florida, I’ve loved Hurricanes football. I moved to Pennsylvania in 1992 but caught the Hurricanes when they played Penn State. I came back to Florida in 1994 and continued my Hurricane likeness by adding baseball. In 1999, I added men’s basketball. In 2000 my wife and I went to womens basketball for the first time to show my daughters that women can play sports as well. In 2002 I had plans to go to Omaha to see the Hurricane baseball team compete in the CWS. In 2003, I plan on being there to suppport my Canes. I write some articles now on the Hurricanes football team on www.allsports.com. I have a small cubicle at work, but my PC has UM wallpaper and a screen saver to go with. Larry Coker sits on my desk and I say, “Hello, Good Morning,” to him every day. On my little bit of a wall, I have a Hurricane poster with most of the Hurricane defense on it along with a few offensive players. There is a ticket stub along side of it w!

ith Lamar Smith’s autograph. After the Tennessee game, I hand made several “U” logos and put them around the office for everyone to see. I also posted a note on bcssucks.com stating that I think it’s bull that this week the Canes are not in 1st place. I went to Convocation Center to see the seats that I can’t afford, and I have both my daughters along with my wife knowing that on Gameday, they must chant along with me at home… wwhhhhhoooooooaaaaa….C..A..N..E..S.. CANES!!!! My canes flag flys every game day. I used to do it every day, but it was starting to get a little ripped, so I wanted to save it to show off at least the rest of the year. I bet friends in Knoxville that the Canes would beat the Vols. And most of all…I’m a PROUD Cane that shows it off with his email.

Latoya Kierra Pollard, Miami: I feel that I am the biggest hurricane fan because I have orange and green pride running through my veins. I eat, sleep and live for the Hurricanes. I attend another university and support the Hurricanes by wearing my Hurricane attire every Friday before a game and every onday after the game. I endure criticism from my home school but still represent the Hurricanes to the fullest. I even travel across the city to attend the UM pep rallies every Friday. Every home game that I cannot afford to attend, I sit outside the Orange Bowl, watch and cheer my team on! I will forever be a Miami Hurricane fan and hope to attend graduate school in the fall so I can live out my dream as an official hurricane, so please pick me as the all-time #1 hurricane fan. But if I’m not chosen I will still represent UM! C-A-N-E-S Canes! Let’s go Canes!

Brian Drujak, Coral Gables, Florida: I’ve been part of the UM family for over 7 years. I went to undergrad and law school at UM, and have always been a big supporter of Hurricane sports (all of them). I’m the fan in the front row of the student section painted orange and green (the color of my blood)spelling out “Go Canes!” with my friends (I’ve always been the A). Countless nights I’ve washed the orange and green paint from out of my hair. When I’m able to afford a house I’ve already told my girlfriend about my Canes room. She won’t be allowed in it. I’ve already started collecting autographs, photos, pieces of the orange bowl—it’s my testament to my alma mater!!!! I am truly a Canes fan, the # 1 fan!

DAVID J WILLIAMS, FORTY FORT PA.: I’M THE GREATEST FAN , BECAUSE EVERYDAYI’M SHOWING MY CANES SPIRIT 24/7/365.IF ITS NOT A HAT , ITS A SHIRT ,OR A SWEATSHIRT, WATCH , WALLET , LICENSE PLATE , FLAG OUTSIDE THE HOUSE(365).

I’M ALWAYS READING ARTICLES ON THE WEB,TO KEEP MYSELF UP TO DATE ON ANY AND ALL CHANGES/EVENTS AT THE GREATEST UNIVERSITY ON EARTH.

GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DOWN WITH THE PANTHERS.
