Miami Falls To No. 21 Villanova, 3-0

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami soccer team was shutout by No. 21 Villanova, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Cobb Stadium.
The Hurricanes fall to 9-5-1 on the season, while the Wildcats improve to 10-1-3 overall.
The Hurricanes outshot Villanova 12 to five in the first half but were unable to connect on any goals.
Villanova’s Janessa Jeltema scored 19 minutes into the match on a pass from Michelle Biehl to put the Wildcats up 1-0.
The score remained 1-0 for most of the match until the Wildcats scored two goals late in the second half.
Regina Villari scored the second goal of the match in the 76th minute on a long pass from Brittany Hunsaker.
Candice MacDonald rounded out scoring for the Wildcats in the 81st minute. MacDonald found herself wide open at the top of the box and connected on a pass from Biehl.
Miami finished the match with 18 shots, while Villanova had 15. The Wildcats took seven corner kicks, compared to four for Miami.
Miami goalkeeper Rachel Elsby played 85 minutes in goal making nine saves in the losing effort. Villanova goalie Chrissy Dolan played the entire matches making 11 saves and allowing no goals.
Miami is back in action travelling to face Rutgers Friday at 7 p.m.
