– The Florida Coca-Cola Bottling Company announced that a special 12-ounce can commemorating University of Miami’s victory in the national college football championship game will be distributed throughout the east coast of Florida from West Palm Beach to Big Pine Key, starting today.

The limited-edition can of Coca-Cola classic will be available in six-packs at retail outlets in southeast Florida for a limited time only.

“We are proud to salute the University of Miami Hurricanes and pleased to offer this can as a tribute to the undefeated National Champions of 2001 and to all University of Miami fans,” said Ray Gough, South Area Vice President, Florida Coca-Cola Bottling Company. “The commemorative can is our way of celebrating their well-deserved victory and fifth title of National Champion.”

“We are pleased and honored that Coca-Cola is producing a commemorative Hurricane can to recognize our 2001 National Championship football team,” responded University of Miami Athletic Director Paul Dee. Coke has long been a great marketing partner and supporter of UM athletics. This gesture is just another way that they have shown that support. We wish to thank Ray Gough and all the fine people at Coke for this honor.”

The specially designed commemorative can highlights each of the five years that the University of Miami has held the title of National Champion. Commemorative Coca-Cola cans and bottles have refreshed consumers for over forty years and are valued by Coca-Cola fans and collectors alike.
