Todd Widom Advances To Round Two Of The NCAA's

CORAL GABLES, Fla.– University of Miami’s 33rd-ranked Todd Widom advances to the second-round of the NCAA Tennis Championships after a three set victory over No. 76 Jamie Gresh Wednesday afternoon in College Station, Texas.

Widom lost the first set of the day 7-6 (5) before rallying back to beat Penn State’s Gresh 6-4, 6-2.

The freshman improves to 27-6 overall this year. He will face Duke’s Phillip King who is currently ranked No. 11 on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The two faced each other earlier this season; Widom lost to King in three sets at Duke.

The winner of the second round will face the winner of the match between Baylor’s Benjamin Becker and Southern California’s Nick Rainey.
