UM Athletics To Host Women's Clinic

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – The University of Miami Athletic Department, along with First Union, will be hosting a women’s sports clinic for nearly 400 elementary and middle school girls on Friday, January 18 at the Knight Sports Complex and Cobb Stadium on the UM campus.
The clinic starts off with registration at 9 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 9:45 a.m. University of Miami head women’s basketball coach Ferne Labati and Miami Sol standout Ruth Riley will address the participants on the benefit of being involved in intercollegiate athletics and sports. Approximately 10:15 a.m. the group of 400 kids will be divided and rotated around the seven separate clinics, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, rowing, and tennis. The Hurricanes’ women’s sports coaching staffs will run each of the clinics.
Each of the participants will receive a T-shirt at registration commemorating the event, along with a Gatorade gift bag at the conclusion. The Big Cheese will cater a pizza lunch for the participants at noon.
