Men's Tennis Completes The Spring Fling

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami men’s tennis team won five singles matches and three doubles matches over visiting Clemson on the final day of the Miami Spring Fling.
The Hurricanes open the 2002 season on Jan. 24 playing host to Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Freshman Todd Widom (Coral Springs, Fla.) improves to 11-2 overall in singles action with his sixth consecutive win at the No. 1 spot. He defeated Micah Thompson, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
Senior Jose Lieberman (Los Angeles, Ca.) beat Marko Gojanovic, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
Newcomer Andrew McDade (South Africa) beat Damiisa Robinson in three sets, winning the first 7-6, and losing the second 6-2 before winning 6-3 in the third.
Other singles victories came from senior Tomas Smid (Prague, Czech Republic) and freshman Justin Kinney (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).
