Soccer Travels To Face Georgia In The NCAA Tourney

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami soccer team travels to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend to face Georgia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Percy Beard Stadium.
Head Coach Jim Blankenship’s squad, 10-8-1 overall, will face the Bulldogs (12-5-1) for the first time ever its first trip to the NCAA’s in only its fourth year of the program.
The Bulldogs are making their third trip to the tournament in seven seasons.
The winner of the match between the Hurricanes and the Bulldogs will face either host Florida (17-3-1) or UCF (14-5) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Hurricanes are 3-2 all-time when facing a Southeastern Conference opponent, including a win over six-time SEC Champion Florida earlier this season.
Miami is led by All-BIG EAST Freshman Britney Butcher (Bothell, Wash.), who scored eight goals and tallied eight assists for a total of 24 points this season.
Senior Amy Berbary who scored nine goals and posted one assist for 19 points on the season leads the Georgia offense.
Third-round matches will be played on campus sites Nov. 23, 24 or 25 as will quarterfinal matches on Nov. 30, Dec. 1 or 2. The 20th annual NCAA Division I Women’s College Cup will be played Dec. 7 and 9 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
