Men's Tennis Completes Day One Of The Bulldog Scramble

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami men’s tennis team won two of its six singles matches and two of its six doubles matches on the first day of the Bulldog Scramble at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
Due to a limited roster, Georgia and Kentucky combined to fill the singles and doubles slots against Miami in the morning.
Freshman Todd Widom lost the first set to Nicolas Boeker of Georgia but fought back and won the next two sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) to win at No. 1 singles for Miami. Widom rallied from a 4-1 deficit to win the second set.
Newcomer Andrew McDade also won his singles match at the No. 6 spot in three sets. McDade won the first set, lost the second to Will Glen of Georgia but recovered in the third set (6-2, 3-6, 6-2).
In doubles, Miami took one from the Bulldogs and one from Kentucky. The duo of McDade and Jose Lieberman topped Gustav Pousette and Rahim Ismail of UK 8-5.
Widom and Justin Kinney beat Will Glen and Ion Vlad of Georgia 8-4.
The Bulldog Scramble continues Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. as Miami faces Baylor.
