Swimming & Diving Travels to Gainesville

Coral Gables, Fla. – (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of MiamiSwimming and Diving team travels to Gainesville, Fla. on Saturday, October 20thfor its second meet of the season.

The women’s team will compete in the Florida Relays with Michigan and Floridaat 10 a.m. before the men’s and women’s teams face UF and Indian River CommunityCollege in a tri-meet at 6 p.m.

UM will look for another strong performance by its men’s divers.

Last weekend in Tallahassee, Miami swept the 1-meter with senior All-America ImreLengyel finishing first, senior All-American Stefan Ahrens placing second andfreshman Miguel Velazquez taking third.

Senior Michelle Davidson and sophomore Melanie Davidson will lead the women divers.At FSU, Davidson took first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter, while sophomoreMelanie Davidson finished second in the 1-meter and third in the 3-meter.

In the swimming events, senior Wesley Stoddard and sophomore Manon van Rooijenwill return to the pool after strong performances last weekend.

Stoddard registered a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:47.98and a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.46) while Manon vanRooijen finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.53).

After the meet in Gainesville, Miami returns home to Coral Gables to host FloridaAtlantic on Saturday, October 27th at 1 p.m.
