Miami Practices For 90 Minutes At Greentree

Oct. 11, 2001

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – With their much anticipated clash with the Florida State Seminoles (3-1) just two days away, the top-ranked Miami Hurricanes (4-0 overall, 2-0 in the BIG EAST) practiced for 90 minutes in and shorts and shells on Thursday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus.

The non-contact practice focused on fundamentals as the Hurricanes continued to sharpen their game as they neared the end of a week of practices. Miami enters Saturday’s contest with a 14-game winning streak, the nation’s second longest, and is trying to end FSU’s formidable home unbeaten streak of 54 games on their home field (Miami’s 17-16 win in 1991 is the last FSU home loss). UM head coach Larry Coker knows his team faces a monumental task this Saturday in Tallahassee.

“There’s been a lot said about (FSU) being in a retooling phase, but we all know the type of team they have and the talent they possess,” Coker said. “Both teams go into every game expecting to win and that is especially the case for them at home. We know they will play their best game of the season to date and we know we will have to respond with the same type of performance. That has really spurred us on this week in practice.”

Miami and FSU meet for the 45th time in football this Saturday in a game that will be nationally televised by ABC Sports beginning at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. ESPN’s Game Day program also will take place in Tallahassee Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. just outside of Doak Campbell Stadium. Hurricanes fans attending the game are encouraged to attend the Game Day program to show their support for the team.
